UK data sharing 'an exceptional privacy risk'
A human rights group has identified UK data legislation as constituting "an exceptional danger to privacy". Privacy International - a watchdog on surveillance and privacy incursions - focuses on the UK government's move towards data sharing in one of its Black Zone reports, which highlight severe risks to data security. The coroners and justice bill enables the transfer of personal information to the government. Commenting on the bill, Privacy International says: "The mass exchange of personal information has the potential to deliver some benefit, however it also presents vast risks associated with governance, privacy, security and human autonomy." In publishing the report, the watchdog says it wants to highlight what it dubs the "extraordinary dangers" of the bill's proposals among the parliament, media and public, including those in European security jobs. Privacy International was founded in 1990 and campaigns on a variety of privacy issues, including ID cards, anti-terrorism measures and freedom of expression. Click here for European security jobs.
