A new IT security accelerator, backed by the government, is looking for entrepreneurial ideas to help the ongoing battle against cyber crime.
A collaboration between the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) and Cyber London (CyLon), HutZero plans to provide those who take part with the network and skills needed to take their business to the next level.
The first HutZero event will welcome 20 candidates. CyLon’s London venue will hold a seven-day boot camp, with a second event to be held later this year.
The content of the boot camp will be made up of business basics and developing technical skills, and will also provide co-working spaces and person-to-person mentoring.
Digital economy minister Ed Vaizey said that he is delighted that the government is showing its support to HutZero, which he calls a unique scheme for those who are looking to start a new cyber security business.
He added:
“Working with Cyber London and CSIT, who are developing this initiative, I hope HutZero will attract the most inquisitive minds from academia, industry, government and further afield. This programme will help make sure we support the next generation of innovative UK cyber security companies.”
The more cyber security firms there are in the UK, the better small and medium enterprises will be protected. However, in the meantime, it’s up to SMEs to secure their own systems by making cyber security jobs available to those who are trained in recognising and responding to any potential breaches or attacks.
