A new IT security service has just been made available, with expertise from both law firm Lewis Silkin and accountants Grant Thornton.
The legal and accounting firms have come together to form DataCheckPoint, an offering featuring an eight-stage IT security and data audit.
Lewis Silkin partner Dr. Nathalie Moreno said that as Europe is investing in cyber security and data, and creating new rules, it became necessary to adopt a joint approach. She said that auditing is now a requirement and that they are delighted to offer DataCheckPoint to businesses as a solution.
She continued:
“We have a long-standing relationship with Grant Thornton and count them as our trusted advisers in the realm of cyber security; it is a pleasure to be working with them to combine our expertise in this innovative new service for all organisations doing business in Europe.”
The audit features a new gap analysis and scoping methodology, which both companies term as promoting “innovative reporting and effective compliance implementation programmes”. New rules around data security, in the form of the Security of Network and Information Systems Directive (NIS Directive) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), will be in play come May 2018.
A cyber security audit sounds like an ideal solution in an area that features little standardisation. Businesses lack an awareness in this area, and this won’t improve until they understand the potential effects that it has on their company, as well as the importance of creating IT security jobs.
