Research indicates that IT professionals possessing big data and cyber security expertise could see an increased demand for their skillset in 2017.
IT and HR departments have started to work more closely together in recent years. Although HR departments have not received significant attention in the past, firms now realise what an important role they play within the company.
The study was conducted by Jobsite and Robert Walters recruitment consultancy, which indicates that close to half (47%) of HR managers believe they will hire more IT workers in 2017.
Robert Walters technology recruitment associate director Ahsan Iqbal, said:
“Specialists in cyber security have been highly sought after by employers over the past year, and this trend is set to continue into 2017.
“With a limited supply of candidates with the required skills, competition will be high among employers to secure the best candidates.”
The study asked 700 technology professionals questions on their recruitment plans for 2017 for the ‘Technology and Recruitment – The Landscape for 2017’ report.
The study reveals that IT professionals with a cyber security background will see the highest demand in 2017, with 54% of those surveyed planning to create more cyber security jobs in 2017.
The surveying organisations said that, as data breaches and cyber attacks continue to make the news throughout 2016, there is likely to be an increased demand for cyber security professionals in startups, SMEs and enterprises alike in the following 12 months.
