HutZero, an innovative new boot camp intended to assist aspiring cyber entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into valid potential businesses, has launched. The young entrepreneurs will undertake a three-month mentoring scheme to help bring their ideas to life.
The inaugural intake comprises 24 participants chosen from a high volume of applicants.
The intake includes 23 from all over the UK, 5 of whom are Northern Irish. The Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) and Cyber London (CyLon) said that the selectees were selected from a range of ages and backgrounds, with 17 being the age of the youngest participant.
The participants took part in a series of challenges that involved business finance and technicalities around their business ideas.
They will now enter the three-month mentorship period, with the ultimate goal of developing a new wave of cyber security professionals, under the government-led National Cyber-Security Programme.
CyLon’s chief-of-staff Poppy Wood told SC:
“I am very excited to finally see this project being kicked off. When I was writing the bid for the project with co-founder Louise Cushnahan a year ago, I never imagined this project would be such a success.
“We’re aiming to give the programme participants a really solid foundation for building a great cyber-security business.”
Businesses of the future will benefit from such schemes, but present day firms should not think that far ahead. They need to take action now and create cyber security jobs to ensure that they are in a position to deal with potential threats.
