The CIA is about to carry out a cyber attack on Russia, says an NBC News report.
It has been reported that officials from US intelligence claimed that the attack came after a reported interference by Russia in the current presidential election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
Spies have allegedly been told to generate a number of options for a cyber attack designed to embarrass and harass the Kremlin.
The report claims that preparation is already underway for a cyber attack, with specific targets in mind. Ex-intelligence officials have said that documents had been gathered by the CIA that could potentially uncover unethical tactics from Vladimir Putin.
Joe Biden, the current vice president, said that the US is sending a warning to Putin that the attack will occur when the Whitehouse decides and in a scenario that will cause the biggest blow.
Head security officer of network security firm Cryptzone, Leo Taddeo, said that the government has been careful in stating that the attack will not go any further than embarrassing and harassing the Kremlin.
He said:
“This appears to be a deliberate signal to Russia that the US will not raise the stakes by targeting critical infrastructures, such as networks supporting the energy and financial sectors. US cybersecurity professionals, however, should take little comfort in this.”
Such cyber warfare is a sign of dangerous times, but it is also prevalent in commerce. Too many businesses fail to prepare for the event of a cyber attack.By creating more cyber security risk jobs, they would be making a very wise move towards proecting their company and data.
