A risk management and security firm from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire is having a telling impact on the cyber security industry.
At the recent Yorkshire & Northern Regional Knowledge Forum Tour, Equilibrium Risk spoke to the British Insurance Brokers Association. The company offered advice on reducing the chances of being hacked, as well as on physical and electronic protection of data.
With recent cyber attacks, such as those at Sony Pictures and TalkTalk, it is essential that businesses grasp the motives and methods behind cyber crime if they are ever to combat threats to their data.
Equilibrium Risk has picked the right time to educate businesses on the dangers of hacking. Cyber crime makes businesses susceptible to negative headlines, which only serves to cause their clients to lose confidence in them.
Head of Operations Jason Donaldson said:
“The threats modern businesses face is growing in number and constantly evolving. The security landscape now incorporates the physical and the virtual world. Failing to recognise this will leave businesses exposed to unnecessary risk. The repercussions of getting it wrong are widely publicised. Businesses of all sizes need to ensure they are protected no matter what the threat.”
With more and more businesses being educated on the importance of cyber security, it can be expected that more IT security jobs will be filled. It would serve those businesses well to seek out talent sooner rather than later so that the most talented personnel are not recruited by the competition.
