BT’s Assure Cyber is taking a big data stance, thanks to big data company Pentaho’s analytics.
The analytics platform and big data system will be embedded into Assure Cyber as a result of an international agreement between both companies.
The service’s aim is to improve identification, as well as active migration, of ongoing security threats. The Pentaho service is able to intake large volumes of date, which can make for a more efficient cyber defence.
The plan will work through data being fed from each source of data used by a firm into a Pentaho data lake, which enables complete data searches to be conducted.
The firm said that searches are now able to be conducted in just 30 seconds, as opposed to two weeks. This means that any vulnerabilities can now be recognised and dealt with at a far greater speed.
Pentaho APAC and VP EMEA, Paul Scholey, told cbronline.com:
“It can be deployed on-premise or cloud, typically we do what the customer wants.
“Crucially, since cybercrime continually evolves, it’s essential that Assure Cyber is built on an open standards, future-proof platform like Pentaho that can integrate whatever new data types and tools BT may need to introduce into its reference architecture over time.”
We live in an age where we all need to play our part in maintaining security of data, and that means both individuals and businesses. Businesses need to ensure that they have the in-house talent designed to deal with cyber threats, which essentially means making more cyber security jobs available.
