There could be an increased demand for IT contract workers who specialise in cyber security, reveals a claims report which reveals how large UK organisations are being affected by breaches.
The Cyber Security Breaches Survey claims that two out of three large firms were affected by a cyber breach last year, with most of these attacks involving malware, spyware, or viruses.
Further, it was revealed that 25% of large organisations that suffered from a breach in 2015 experienced at least one a month, but just half of these firms followed a government-recommended procedure to better protect their data.
A further concerning statistic is that only 10% of firms said that they had drawn up an incident management strategy.
Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey said:
“The UK is a world-leading digital economy and this government has made cyber security a top priority. Too many firms are losing money, data and consumer confidence with the vast number of cyber attacks. It’s absolutely crucial businesses are secure and can protect data.”
As such, cyber specialist contractors working for limited companies may find themselves more in demand in 2015, with businesses increasing their recruitment spend to secure their assets against a potential breach.
Security specialists are extremely valuable in an age where any business is one breach away from disaster. They appear to be waking up to the fact that it is essential to create cyber security jobs to those with the expertise in potentially saving their business, which is a good sign indeed.
