Cyber Security Assurance Manager

Salary £86,000 - £96,000

Location: London (Hybrid – 50%)

A government body is looking for a Cyber Security Assurance Manager to lead their Governance, Risk and Compliance function. As the Cyber Security Assurance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ongoing transformation to enhance cyber security capabilities. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will lead the Cyber Security Assurance team, responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of corporate IT and safety-critical operational technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage pan-organization cyber security assurance function, defining and implementing its strategy and operating model.
• Lead and develop a diverse and inclusive cyber security team, comprising approximately 10 staff.
• Take ownership of and maintain cyber security policy, standards, and guidance framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
• Manage the assurance framework, encompassing both technical and non-technical assurance.
• Oversee the cyber security risk management framework, collaborating with business-as-usual (BAU) teams and projects to assess and mitigate risks.
• Manage third-party cyber security assessments, including suppliers, academic partnerships, and regulatory compliance (e.g., NIS audits).
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation of assurance capabilities.
• Foster relationships with internal enterprise assurance and audit teams.
• Support engagement with regulatory bodies related to cyber security.
• Provide primary input into the annual budget for the assurance program and monitor expenditure throughout the year.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, risk owners, steering groups, and other security leads within the organization.
• Engage with regulatory bodies, partners, and forums in the transportation and government sectors.
• Work closely with Information Governance to develop and refine our policy framework.

Required Experience:

• Delivery of an assurance programme, including risk frameworks and policy frameworks.
• Proven background in cyber and information security, preferably with relevant professional qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.
• Delivery in a multi-disciplined security environment preferably public sector, transport or similar
• Familiarity with cyber security regulations and industry frameworks relevant to the Government/Public Sector, including GDPR, Network and Information Systems (NIS) regulations, NCSC Cyber Essentials, CIS 20, ISO 27001, etc.

• The ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued in this role.
