Software provider wins award

A Canadian software provider has won an award for its ComputraceComplete data protection service.

The Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) has announced Absolute Software's asset management remote data delete and computer theft recovery product as the winner of the 2008 CODiE award for Best Data Security Solution.

ComputraceComplete beat off competition from six other finalists to triumph in the category, which covers data security aids such as anti-virus, firewall, encryption and intrusion detection software.

The winning product is a software-as-a-service solution designed for computer recovery following theft, remote data deletion and asset management.

John Livingston, chairman and chief executive of Absolute Software, said his firm was "delighted" with the success.

He added: "Thousands of organisations in the corporate, government, healthcare and education sectors have recognized that ComputraceComplete is the best data security solution for them, but it’s an additional honour to have our peers recognize our product as a best-of-class data security solution.

SIIA is a trade association for the software and digital content industry, providing global services in government relations, business development, corporate education and intellectual property protection.
