Hybrid cloud computing can benefit businesses
Businesses that employ security consultants are among some of the organisations that can benefit from using cloud computing in their everyday operations.

Peter Job, founder and chief executive officer of Intergence Systems, believes that businesses should consider adopting a hybrid cloud data management system.

However, regardless of the advantages of cloud computing, he accepted that some people remained sceptical, which suggests he thinks that there are some concerns over data protection.

"But where people are less worried is the whole issue of private cloud," he expanded.

"If you look at private cloud, people have been doing that for some time - virtualised environments are essentially a private cloud. We've done this ourselves already [as] we've been using things like Amazon services - so you can then have a nice combination of the best of both worlds."

Consequently, Mr Job envisages a big move towards the hybrid cloud in 2012, because it allows people and businesses to access flexible applications in this virtual space.

"If you don't want [information] outside the organisation, you can keep it inside using a hybrid model," he explained.

Mr Job is a firm believer in cloud computing, so much so that he predicts it will become the norm. He describes it as already being a very mainstream way of organising data for many people in today's age.

He said: "I think less people are worried about some of the things that are a bit tired and boring - security issues or [asking] 'is my data safe?' So, as I say, if you use a hybrid version of that, it's much safer."

One of the key attractions of cloud computing is that it saves money and time. Intergence Systems has, for example, developed a product known as Hyperglance, which it claims reduced development time by a massive 30 per cent.

"It just gives you a lot more access to applications than you would by buying them privately – they're publically accessible," he added.

Intergence Systems is an independent networks and IT (information technology) optimisation consultancy.
