Hacking has become 'a major issue', says Facebook
Facebook account hacking has become a "major issue", according to the social networking site's head of European policy. Lord Richard Allan said that the company is currently looking into and implementing new ways of identifying compromised accounts and improving information security. Soon the site will track abnormal behaviour, such as people attempting to log into an account from an unusual location. "Now, if you're logging in from an unusual location you'll get extra security questions and if you want to login by a new device [Facebook] notifies you by SMS or email," he told The Guardian. "Just recently Interpol's Information Security Incident Response Team discovered two Facebook profiles attempting to assume my identity as Interpol's secretary general," he told the Interpol Information Security Conference in Hong Kong. This week, Interpol chief Ronald K Noble revealed that his identity had been stolen twice by cyber criminals using Facebook, which raises questions about the data protection offered by the site.
