Apple's vetting process offers 'more protection'
Kevin Wharram, an independent IT security consultant, explained that as of late there had been a big increase in malware on Android platforms. In contrast, Apple scrutinises all applications before they go up on the App Store, adding another line of safety that is absent in Android devices. "If you want more security - go for Apple, because of the way they hold everything in a closed environment and it's more protected - whereas Android's an open environment," he added. Mr Wharram went to suggest that hackers will move on to Apple – first it was Microsoft because that had the most users, then Android. He said he had noticed an increase in viruses targeted "at the Mac". The IT specialist also believes that online hacking in general is going to increase because more people will be accessing, using and sharing data. "A lot of people are willing to share their data and they don't even realise what this data can be used for." Liked this news article?
