Portability the 'key' technology trend
08/06/2009
The ability to use technology on the move is the key trend right now, an expert has stated.
"Mobile solutions are now expected to deliver everything that you are expecting from your PC, from your TV, from your musical selection at home," said Kristof Beets, business development manager at Imagination Technologies.
Speaking at the GaME09 industry event, he said consumers now want all kinds of media available to them all the time.
Offering such levels of accessibility combined with satisfactory levels of battery power represents the "ultimate" experience being aimed for, Mr Beets added.
Enhanced portability of information carries risk management implications for businesses as they look to balance improved service levels with information security requirements.
John Stokdyk, technology editor at Sift Media, has pointed out that the new generation of smartphones are as powerful as desktop PCs were just a few years ago.
He recommends taking "old-fashioned precautions" to enhance information security and advises firms to consider using data encryption on mobile devices.
