A security flaw has been found in PCs using Windows Vista that have been upgraded to Service Pack 1.

The vulnerability potentially allows a hacker to take control of a user's computer, once they have opened a malware-infected media file, reports Macworld.

Hacker Petko D Petkov told the technology news provider it was unlikely that anyone would fall prey to the security breach for the time being.

"I highly doubt that anyone knows how to exploit this vulnerability," he said.

"I haven't shared the details with anyone, and the actual vulnerability is different enough to be rather challenging for even some of the most gifted hackers out there."

This news follows reports by Computing.co.uk that a group of IT security experts at Infosec 2008 in London earlier this month predicted that it is only a matter of time before hackers target those UK high street retailers that have a presence online.
