Software security certification plans unveiled
30 September 2008
A new software security certification has been announced.
In news which may affect information security jobs, (ISC)2 has unveiled plans for the Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP), which is aimed at project managers, IT analysts or engineers as well as coders.
According to Information Security magazine, the certification focuses on a range of software vulnerabilities, risk and compliance issues, and spread over a range of seven separate domains.
Hord Tipton, executive director of (ISC)2, told the site the CSSLP teaches about "best practise" with regards to applications.
"Even when the security person notes that something needs to be embedded in software, they have limited authority," he added.
"We need to make sure the people who supervise the process hear what [security managers] have to say and their knowledge is brought to the table."
SC Magazine reports there have been over 500 viruses and malware identified that specifically target mobile phones.
