A news service has been developed to for testing off-the-shelf software and outsourced code.
It is hoped the portfolio, which is designed by Veracode, will benefit businesses by allowing them to assess security risks across all of their IT applications.
This year, organisations have made use of a number of complicated applications in an attempt to tackle sharp increases in cybercrime.
Rhonda MacLean, global information security officer in global retail and commercial banking at Barclays Bank, commented: "In a rapidly changing threat environment, the technology and its software-as-a-service model have given us the flexibility to conduct rapid code review cycles, which is an obvious benefit for our customers."
The Information Security Breaches survey figures for 2008 released earlier this week and reported in Computer Weekly showed that 13 per cent of companies found that hackers had broken through their security systems in the previous year, compared with only one per cent the year before.
