An IT security provider has developed new software to help businesses comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance standards.
The firewall and intrusion-prevention system have been designed by Stonesoft to protect sensitive data and audit access to cardholder information for all businesses with an online presence.
New PCI data security standards will come into force this year on June 30th, requiring all web-facing applications to be protected against known attacks, according to the firm.
Klaus Majewski, product marketing manager at Stonesoft, said: "Achieving compliance with PCI Data Security Standards is quite a struggle for most organisations.
"This new requirement to protect all web-facing applications against known attacks is what [we] have been doing for years already."
Earlier this week, IT technology giants McAfee and Microsoft announced that they are combining to develop a new network access control programme.
The venture is intended to protect private networks from unauthorized access and provide comprehensive endpoint health check tests, according to McAfee.
