A new hacking tool able to target as many as 14 browser vulnerabilities and plant malware within a PC user's system has been identified by security researchers.

The tool has been named 'Tornado' and can act as a base from where an 'administrator' can offer access accounts to numerous other cybercriminals, reports vnunet.com.

Hackers direct users to the Tornado server by injecting code into various web pages where they are able to easily install the necessary malware, according to the technology news provider.

Liam O'Murchu, a researcher at internet security firm Symantec, said: "Using this model, the creators of the pack can sell it to a few trusted customers at a higher price, rather than selling it to many untrustworthy customers and risking the code being released in the underground."

The news follows reports of the 2008 Information Security Breaches survey in Computer Weekly earlier this week, which indicated that the number of companies reporting that their IT security provisions had been hacked increased from one per cent of businesses to 13 per cent between 2006 and 2007.
