Information Security

Businesses around the world have been urged to take a wider perspective on how they aim to approach information risk management.

Art Coviello, chief executive of the security solutions provider RSA, is keen to see companies take a more overarching approach to data protection, rather than try to deal directly with issues as and when they arise.

Millions of dollars are being spent on improving the information risk management position of particular organisations but often the results are limited by a lack of foresight and a concerted approach, Ms Coviello has suggested.

She told SC Magazine recently: "Too many organisations simply apply point-products to point-problems and are spending without thinking about their overall security and management infrastructure."

Last week, the security and control firm Sophos claimed that the majority of corporate computers are being left with insufficient security software to protect them from potential viral data threats.
