IT security 'must be a prime concern' when visiting websites
26/02/2010
Company employees have been urged to take steps to protect their firm's information security by visiting only legitimate websites.
A sensible, best practice approach is the most appropriate way to approach business risk management with regards website safety, according to senior threat analyst at SophosLabs Paul Baccas.
He also explained the steps businesses can take to protect their own sites from hosting malicious malware.
"The most sensible steps are to follow established best practices," added Mr Baccas.
"For instance, secure and hard to crack passwords, regular and up to date patching, secure coding to prevent exploitation, and so on," he noted.
A recent survey by Sophos found that Facebook is believed to pose the biggest security threat online.
The IT security firm's report also indicates that social engineering hacks on websites such as Facebook are on the rise, alongside search engine optimisation targeting attacks.
