Cloud computing security risks 'can be managed'
14/07/2010
Security risks posed by cloud computing are manageable, a new survey has found.
Although 90 per cent of Information Security Forum (ISF) members believe that cloud computing alters their information security risks, they believe they are capable of addressing the issues, Network World reported.
ISF's latest survey involved over 300 of the world's largest companies and public sector organisations.
Adrian Davis, a senior research consultant for the ISF, said: "The main areas of concern are focused on managing user identities and credentials, third-party service providers, emerging cloud technologies, protecting against new forms of malware and legal and regulatory issues."
Other key threats highlighted included the increasing use of powerful mobile devices and the merging of home and work computing.
One of the top information security challenges in the ISF's latest Threat Horizon Report was identified as the rapid adoption of cloud computing.
The ISF is an independent authority that supplies authoritative opinion and guidance on all aspects of information security.
