Dell mobile web foray 'would make perfect sense'
03/07/2009
Dell's move into the mobile internet market appears to be a very shrewd one, according to an expert.
"It makes perfect sense for them to launch a new mobile device as they have the knowledge and resources to challenge others in the smartphone market," said Richard Sharp, founder of the Gadgets and Gizmos website.
He pointed out that the computing giant has a record of producing "some great products".
Mr Sharp was commenting after a report in the Wall Street Journal stated that sources close to Dell had told the newspaper that the firm's engineers have been working on a pocket-sized device with internet connectivity.
It is understood that the product would run with Google's Android software and there is the chance it could go on sale later this year, although Dell has not made any comment on any of the rumours.
