Businesses are 'committed to online marketing'
30/06/2010
Online advertising is enjoying widespread acceptance thanks to its accountability, it has been claimed.
According to Karin von Abrams, senior analyst at eMarketer, online marketing has performed well despite the impact of the recent global economic downturn because of the excellent return-on-investment the channel offers.
"If anything, the recession and the potential for further economic uncertainty make an even stronger case for the online option," she claimed.
She also suggested that the industries which are most keen to increase digital marketing spend are those that pioneered the use of the internet for marketing purposes in the first place - including the tech and telecoms sectors.
"Industries such as technology, telecoms, entertainment and media were among the first to shift significant amounts of spending online, because their target audiences were among the first to embrace the internet," she concluded.
Jon Maddison, director at Epsilon UK, recently claimed that social networking websites are great for online marketing because users place a lot of trust in them.
