Mobile web revolution 'only just beginning'
29/06/2009
We are at the beginning of a "mobile web revolution", an industry insider has claimed.
Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive officer of Opera Software, made the comment as he discussed emerging trends among consumers who are using mobile devices to access the net.
People who are going online via their mobiles appear to favour search engines they already know and use, the expert revealed.
He added that it will be "fascinating" to see whether habits start to change "as the mobile web becomes more pervasive and more people have their first experience on the web from a mobile device".
Meanwhile, professionals in IT marketing jobs will be interested to note that mobile advertising is being tipped to grow significantly over the coming months.
Ian Chard, an analyst with Juniper Research, said mobile advertising is so appealing because it can be highly targeted to different consumers.
